For centuries, the Bermuda Triangle has held human fascination. Truthfully speaking, it is not the only place on earth with unsolved mysteries; there are other such places all over the face of this earth that elicits a feeling of fear and amazement just because of the unexplainable happenings happening around them. Here are seven places that might be even more mysterious and charming than the Bermuda Triangle:.
1. The Devil's Sea Japan
The Devil's Sea, Japan Lying far out in the ocean, off the Japanese coastline, it is known as the Devil's Sea, or the Dragon's Triangle, and according to reports, it is almost identical in nature to the Bermuda Triangle. From this region, covering from Japan out across to the Pacific Islands, many reports have emerged of strange disappearances.
The unsolved cases, added to the fact that no wreckage or signals of distress were reported from the missing vessels, have only added to the reputation of the Devil's Sea for spookiness. Japanese fishermen and sailors have always thought of this area as dangerous too, and in the 1950s, the government of Japan declared it as a danger zone for sea travels.
2. The Nevada Triangle USA
Known as The Nevada Triangle, it covers over 25,000 square miles of California, Nevada, and the Sierra Nevada mountains and been the scene of over 2,000 aircraft disappearances in the last 60 years. Perhaps most famously was when billionaire aviator Steve Fossett disappeared in 2007. The searchers found no trace of Fossett's plane until one year later, but still, there was not a clear explanation of what caused the crash. While disappearance can be attributed to the treacherous weather patterns and rugged terrain of the Sierra Nevada in some cases, others must be attributed to more mystifying forces at work.
3. The Alaska Triangle USA
The Alaska Triangle, deep in the heart of Alaska wilderness, holds one of the world's biggest numbers of unsolved missing cases. From 1988, over 16,000 disappeared without a trace. The triangle's bounds would go from Anchorage to Juneau and onto Barrow, covering an enormous area of almost impassable wilderness.
Others believe the reason lies in the high level of magnetic anomalies that exist within the area, while others consider it to be of a more supernatural nature, like the shape-shifting monster of the Tlingit folk known as the Kushtaka.
4. The Bennington Triangle USA
Another area in the same vein and noted for odd happenings and unsolved disappearances is The Bennington Triangle in southwestern Vermont. Five people disappeared within a very tiny radius from 1945 to 1950, never to reappear. The most bizarre was 18-year-old Paula Weldon, who went out one afternoon to hike on the Long Trail and just disappeared into thin air. Nothing was ever found after an extensive search was made, even with such signs of her disappearance getting broad media coverage. From alien abductions to time warps, explanations exist for the disappearances of this area to make Bennington Triangle more eerie.
5. The Michigan Triangle USA
Quite a few unexplained events and mysterious disappearances take place in Lake Michigan's Michigan Triangle. The most famous one dates back to 1950 and the disappearance of the Northwest Airlines Flight 2501. This flight just disappeared from Lake Michigan airspace, without a trace, and with it went 58 people. Up until that time, it was one of the largest search operations, but no trace or remains were found.
Over the years, some rather weird reports have come from this area—ghost ships, balls of light, and time anomalies—all adding to the mystery of the Michigan Triangle.
6. The Bridgewater Triangle USA
The Bridgewater Triangle, containing Southeastern Massachusetts, is one of the hotspots of the world for paranormal activity and has won a disproportionately large count of inexplicable events. A huge area spanning about 200 square miles is famous for reports on UFO sightings, strange creatures, ghostly apparitions, and many more legends. One of the more famous legends is that of the Pukwudgies: small, troll-like creatures from Wampanoag folklore said to inhabit the area.
Enveloped inside the triangle, the Hockomock Swamp was rumored to be filled with such activity. So again, the Bridgewater Triangle would be on a short list of those interested in things paranormal.
7. The Vile Vortices
The Vile Vortices are twelve geographic areas of the world that some suppose to have electromagnetical anomalies occurring in them and things like mysterious disappearances. The Bermuda Triangle is the best known out of them; the others are, for instance, like the Devil's Sea and the South Atlantic Anomaly. These regions are said to be the highest accumulations of magnetic forces and hence can well be the responsible for the queer phenomenons reported in these regions. From the very first naming of the Vile Vortices, strangeness like ships and aircraft disappearing, strange lights, and even time distortions have been probably some global phenomenon that has continued to remain a mystery to scientists and researchers alike. None of these seven places are any known to mankind; they all raise questions on the understanding of nature. Perhaps the better known among them is the Bermuda Triangle; the rest can easily be stated as locations indicating how Planet Earth still continues to reserve many untold secrets. This is thrust into the limelight with such an intense journey into the unknown for those mystery lovers. All of this would make any person enthusiastic about visiting and interested in something out of this world, be it magnetic anomalies at the Vile Vortices or paranormal activities in the Bridgewater Triangle.
